How to ship a car?

Transporting a car can be an easy experience if done correctly, here are some thing you need to keep in mind when transporting a car.
 
Determine your schedule. determine your flexibility and when you need transportation, as all industries the car transport industry also runs by seasons. Shipping in different times will affect the availability and price. Deciding when is your first available pick up date and when is the latest you can receive your car will also help determine the drivers schedule. Expedite service require extra fees and budgets require flexibility, especially during high season.
 
Open or Enclosed. Determine the type of protection and carrier you need, most transportation is done via open carriers unless specified differently. Classic cars, sports cars, convertibles, motrocyles and high end luxury cars are required to be shipped via enclosed carrier to ensure maximum protection during transit.
 
Not a moving company. Car transporters are dedicated to transport vehicles only, do not pack your car up with personal items as you run the risk of no pick up. Hire a moving company or make other arrangements to ship your items.
 
Type of vehicle. The make and model of your car will affect the transportation as some vehicles require more accommodations than others, the bigger and heavier your car the higher the price as drivers have to compensate for the lost space.
 
Location. Most carriers if not all, offer a door to door service, however some locations are impossible to reach for big haulers. If you are within a gated community, narrow streets, or within a military base, you must meet driver in the nearest open are in order to safely mount or download your car. Make sure you arrange these details before with your agent so no misunderstanding occurs on the date of transportation.
